Peter Elliott is a familiar face in both New Zealand and Australia, appearing in almost seventy television shows. His onscreen career began with EREBUS THE AFTERMATH in 1985, recurring roles in iconic New Zealand serials GLOSS and SHORTLAND STREET, and most recently taking on roles such as the villainous 'Frankie Figg' in the Outrageous Fortune prequel WESTSIDE, and series regular 'Stuart McGregor' in Canadian/NZ co-production THE SOUNDS (Acorn TV, NEON and CBC). Peter has also appeared in over seventy theatrical productions, which has included working with renowned New Zealand companies ATC, Silo, The Court, Downstage and Mercury Theatres
In 2009 Peter played 'Murray Gibson', the lawyer of wrongfully-convicted David Dougherty in biopic UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT and won 'Best Performance by a Supporting Actor' at the New Zealand Film & Television Awards. He was nominated again in 2012 for his portrayal of 'Harold Beauchamp' in the highly-acclaimed telemovie BLISS: THE BEGINNING OF KATHERINE MANSFIELD.
As himself, Peter has presented several documentary series, including CAPTAIN'S LOG, for which he was nominated for 'Best Presenter' at the NZ Film & Television Awards, and three years later for EXPLORERS, for which he won the award. He is also a sought-after MC, having presented events such as the Air New Zealand Wine Awards and the New Zealand Boat Show, where his expertise in numerous hobbies and industries alongside acting shines.
Peter has been a regular contributor to magazines 'Trade a Boat', 'Kiwirider', 'The New Zealand Herald' and 'Destinations'. He has served as a board member for Equity New Zealand, Baseball New Zealand and The Outdoors Group, presented a fishing show with RadioLive, and is currently the president of the Auckland Flyfishing Anglers Club.
In 2021 Peter was awarded a New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the performing arts. When he's not acting or writing, you'll find Peter out fishing, riding his Triumph motorcycle and spending time with his wife and three children.
