Since graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) Pip has accumulated a wealth of experience as an actor and director in film, television and theatre. As an actor Pip is well known for his roles in Baz Luhrman’s Strictly Ballroom (as Wayne Burns) and Peter Jackson’s King Kong as well as his ongoing role playing the cameraman Stu in the ABC’s cult hit Frontline. Pip has also featured as a guest in numerous Australian television shows including Halifax FP, Secret Life of Us, Good Guys Bad Guys, Blue Heelers, Mission Impossible and Time Trax. Pip also showed his versatility as host of the Blockbuster Entertainment Show for 26 episodes on Network Ten. On stage, Pip has acted for leading theatre company’s including the Melbourne Theatre Company and Playbox Theatre.
Pip has directed numerous shows for the stage. His debut play, Biloxi Blues, was nominated as one of the “most outstanding and memorable productions” of the year by the Victorian Drama League. Pip also received critical acclaim for his direction of the musical Falsettos, which received 11 nominations at the Victorian Music Guild Awards, including Best Director and Best Production. As well as his critically acclaimed production of Avenue Q, which was also nominated for Best Director and Best Production.
For television, Pip has worked as a director/producer on a numerous programmes including Wine Me, Dine Me (Nine Network), Toon Time (Foxtel)), The Late Report (Network Seven, Live and Kicking (Network Seven), Four Quarters (Network Seven) and Steve Vizard’s Tonight Live (Network Seven)
Pip’s first feature, Josh Jarman, which he wrote and directed, starring Marcus Graham and Kym Gyngell, was released Australia wide through Hoyts Cinemas and has screened at numerous international film festivals. Pip is currently developing his second feature.
