Lachlan Obst is a recent graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and a local artist in Perth, with a wealth of experience and knowledge well beyond his years. Raised in regional WA, Lachlan developed an unusual flair for the arts at a young age, and it’s only ever grown stronger over the years. As well as a trained performer, he is a music theatre repertoire consultant, has musically directed (and assistant MD’d) shows such as Crookie: A Mystery Musical, The Karaoke Club and What Makes A Musical A Musical: A Musical Cabaret. His writing credits include three finalist numbers for the WAAPA Julie Michaels Cabaret Awards, two musicals (Crookie and What makes a Musical) and other works still in development. He has taken workshops with the likes of Doug Besterman and Carmel Dean in orchestration and harmony writing respectively, and Emily Grishman in score formatting and copy editing. Lachlan has also had three singing teachers in Robert Hoffman, Elisa Wilson and Aaron Hales. Armed with a Diploma and Bachelor’s degree in musical theatre, Lachlan is a well-equipped, born performer and a passionate writer, keen to make an impact in the Australian entertainment scene.
