Mina Asfour (He/Him) is a bilingual Jordanian-Palestinian-Australian artist based in Western Sydney. His career started out in his teenage years in front of the camera for a plethora of projects, including: guest starring on ABC’s ‘Halal Gurls’ (dir. Vonne Patiag), TVCs for Clients like: TikTok, LADbible, Donut King, Gumtree, ReachOut Australia, TAFE NSW. Mina also is privileged to be on an international tour with Powersuit Theatre Co, where he plays the lead role of Will in The Culture (dir. Bethany Caputo) Mina's career in the arts is also taken behind the camera being a producer and publicist for Fingerless Theatre Co. Working on their production of The Tale Of The Great Emu War and Twelfth Night (dir. Alex Kendall Robson). And Powersuit Productions, as their social media manager. Mina is also the media manager for VANDAL which is a pre and post production house based in Redfern. Mina is also a writer. He is currently working on his latest film project ‘The Rectangle Love Triangle’, which follows the tale of a “self-destructive romantic” which is now in development after successfully pitching at Inner West Film Festival and is in talks with Breathless Films, Causeway Films and Hoodlum. It is set to be in production in the near future with Craig Boreham (Lonesome, Teenage Kicks) as the director. With his writing, Mina was chosen to be part of Yungstr, a 6-month program to bring satirical work to the forefront, run by award-winning playwright Lachlan Philpott and sponsored by ATYP (Australian Theatre for Young People). Mina is also excited to be the new artist-in-residence for Bankstown Art Center run by Canterbury City Council, where he will focus on the development of new work and showcase his work at the end of his residency. Mina is also a singer/songwriter (Baritone C2 - E4). As a singer/songwriter, he is at his best recording and producing his own music with local independent music producers. With his Passion for songwriting, he uses his past experiences as fuel to write and keep on creating, if it's not a song then it’s a poem and the collection just keeps on growing. Mina's sound is similar to artists like Lana Del Rey (her Lizzy Grant days). Mina’s driving passion for his career is to create more opportunities, for himself and for others like him, to diversify the Australian film industry and to break barriers, being a pioneer for the LGBTQIA+ community and people of colour.
