Notes

Actor, writer and auteur. Aanisa Vylet is from Western Sydney. After graduating from Theatre Nepean (2008), she was awarded the Ian Potter Cultural Trust grant to assist her training at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris & Escuela de Berty Tovias in Barcelona (2013-2015). Her published works include: Private Research, The Voices Project , (ATYP Currency Press) and On Western Sydney Vol.2, (Westside Writer’s Group). She is a strong advocate of cultural diversity in film & theatre. Her debut short film, The Parisian, reached national & international acclaim, including screenings at the 2015 Flickerfest & the Great Lakes International Film Festival. Her debut self-devised show: The Girl (Perth & Adelaide Fringe Festival & Site & Sound Festival, Sydney, 2016) was shortlisted for the Phillip Parsons playwriting award (Belvoir, 2015) and received multiple five-star reviews, including a nomination for the West Australian Arts Editor Award (Perth Fringe, 2016). The play was later performed in tandem with her second play, The Woman, as part of National Theatre of Parramatta's main stage season in 2018. Her next work, Sauvage, is currently in development, and had its first outing at BATCH Festival (Griffin Theatre, 2019). The work will continue to evolve via the following international research and residency programs : Hamamana Artist House (Lebanon, 2019), Brand X (Merrigong Theatre, 2019) and Carmen De Las Cuevas (Spain, 2019). Her developing artistic practice has been greatly supported by residencies and programs such as the Artist's Program (Belvoir St Theatre, 2017), the Breakthrough Artist Award (The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, 2017), Post Production Program (PWA 2019) and the Creative Development Fellowship Program (Create NSW, 2019).
