LAWRENCE WHARERAU
Lawrence has been professionally involved with the screen production industry in Aotearoa for over 27 years. This predates the establishment of the Maori Programmes Department at TVNZ. Past roles include all aspects of production and presentation for film and television programmes like Waka Huia, Te Karere, Whakairo and Marae.
Lawrence was most recently seen in the groundbreaking series Nga Taonga Whitiahua in conjunction with the Film Archive and Maori Television.
Lawrence is the Nga Aho Whakaari representative on Te Paepae Ataata, helping create pathways for Maori feature film production. He is currently the Te Reo Maori Cataloguer and Researcher at The Film Archive and is on the list of preferred assessors for Te Mangai Paho.
"I have a passion to hear, see, smell, feel and taste Maori voice and story in as many arenas as possible as well as preserving our unique story telling in broadcast media, writing and performance."
