Originally from the Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, Delia Hannah began her professional career with PIRATES OF PENZANCE and by the time she was performing in CHESS in 1992 she was already a star on the rise, having played Eva Peron in EVITA and over 100 shows as Fantine in a two-year engagement with the Australian premier season of LES MISERABLES.

Spending much of her career offshore her break-out performance came as Rose Vibert in 1993 in another Australian premier this time ASPECTS OF LOVE directed by Gale Edwards. Delia was awarded both the Variety and MO awards for her star performance, before being invited to open the UK touring production as Rose and winning rave reviews from the London press.

Having earned a solid reputation for playing strong, dramatic leading ladies, Delia went on to play Mrs Johnston in the Australasian tour of BLOOD BROTHERS and to then win the Sydney Critics Circle award for her performance, in addition to recording the soundtrack with Stefan Dennis and David Soul. She also recorded her first solo album, Down Stage Centre, with acclaimed pianist, arranger and musical supervisor, Michael Tyack, featuring many of the hit songs she had become known for.

At the 2010 prestigious Australian Helpmann Awards Delia was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Grizabella, a role she has played in various productions of CATS all over the world.

By the mid 90's Delia was by now something of a specialist when it came to the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Delia toured internationally as a principal soloist with Sarah Brightman and Anthony Warlow in 1996, where she performed some of the composer’s best-loved songs. In 2011, she was delighted to reprise the show’s amazing collection this time with Michael Cormick.

In 2013 Delia toured in the Australasian seasons of the Walt Disney production MARY POPPINS, her show-stopping performance as The Bird Woman winning much acclaim. Delia’s recent triumphs include her playing Donna Sheridan in the New Zealand Amici Production of MAMMA MIA!, featuring in the Melbourne production of Sondheim On Sondheim (Manilla Street Productions) and as Margaret Lord in High Society for The Hayes Theatre Company.

She has appeared in television and film both as a dramatic actress in the popular Australian TV series ALL SAINTS and the New Zealand TV series SHORTLAND STREET and as songstress and interviewee promoting the musical touring productions she stars in.

Delia’s home and family are in New Zealand where, with husband Ross Girven and daughter Grace, she enjoys her breaks from touring.
