I am currently teaching Darren, and I have known him for a few years through his work at the Actors Centre of Australia where I also teach. I have found him to be dedicated, keen and enthusiastic about the world of acting and performance. This is clear from the long distance he travels from his home in the Western Suburbs of Sydney to the artistic hub of Inner City Sydney every day. He also puts in two hours study with me before embarking on a long day of work so that he maximizes his time concentrating on acting. I have seen him work well with others because he has a very calm and positive manner and he understands that each actor creates the performance of each other actor through sharing the experience and truth. He is a developing actor with a great instinct and thirst for knowledge and a desire to constantly improve. I feel that the combination of his abilities, his pleasing manner and his understanding of the rigorous life required of an actor make him an ideal candidate for investment through scholarship. His background and cultural experience, being a Fijian Indian Australian from the Western Suburbs of Sydney only enhance the reasons why he should be supported. Diversity is crucial to our future relevance as an industry, and in Darren there is a great chance to build on that future.
