Originally from New Zealand, Peter completed his acting training at London’s Westminster Theatre in the mid-1960’s. On returning to NZ, he studied at Otago University, Dunedin Teachers’ College and Christchurch Teachers’ College, graduating as a schoolteacher and eventually specialising in working with those with special needs. In the 1970’s, he also graduated from Slough College of Further Education in the UK as an Associate of the British Drama Board (Drama Teaching). After teaching in NZ and England for over 15 years, Peter began working as a professional actor, voice-over artist and video presenter. He has continued along this path for more than 35 years now, initially in NZ, and latterly Australia… Since moving to Australia in 1992, Peter has performed on many a Sydney stage – the Stables, Darlinghurst, Belvoir Street and Old Fitzroy Theatres to name but a few – and toured Australia and New Zealand several times, including with the legendary Topol in the hit musical, Fiddler on the Roof, followed by a similar tour as character presenter & storyteller with the New York arena production of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. He has also appeared in countless TV productions, including Rake, Crownies, Packed to the Rafters, Home and Away, All Saints, Backberner, Forensic Investigation, Headland, A Country Practice, Breakers, Crime Investigators Australia and NZ’s Shortland Street. Peter’s most recent notable feature film roles have been in the highly acclaimed indie Australian production, The Flood, and the powerful Streets of Colour (the latter having only recently emerged from an agonisingly protracted 2 years of post-production – no thanks to Covid!). Other film credits include indie features Fragment, Submerged, Hobby Farm, Deceit and Bedlam, the web series Old Mates and a myriad of internationally award-winning short films. Peter has a wealth of experience in many aspects of corporate training work, including presenting and narrating for corporate videos and CD ROM training programmes, performing character roles for video, and live role-play in a variety of fields such as medical, corporate, financial, relationship/behavioural, etc. His professional voice-over credentials are truly impressive, with his trademark “warm but authoritative” style most sought-after by many in the corporate world. He was the voice of Ancestry.com.au for many years, has character-voiced numerous animated TV series and movies (including Heidi, The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill, 100% Wolf, Maya the Bee – The Honey Games) and radio dramas, and has narrated a documentary series about WW2, plus a 48-episode series entitled World’s Greatest (currently airing on Channel 9). Peter is now based in Tasmania, but he is eminently mobile, and no stranger to online technology such as ZOOM! 😉 Peter has Source Connect capability at home for voice-over work worldwide, and his full studio set-up is a work in progress - watch this space!
