Ahmed Hilowle is a budding and adroit African Australian actor based in Melbourne, Australia. The passion Ahmed has for acting grew from watching his father perform theatre in his native country Somalia. He is very adamant on artistically representing his community and one of his key motivations is to remove the stigma that surrounds the performance arts in his community where it is an almost unrecognized skill.
From a young age he has been probing the art of acting and honing his craft by participating in school plays and reading books such as An Actor Prepares (Stanislavski) and Intent to live (Larry Moss). Earlier in his career Ahmed was a student of the new faces academy where he built the foundations and learnt the processes of acting. To focus on scene study and his connection with the camera, he went on to study at brave studios with renowned acting teacher Mark Hennessy. Ahmed is also a student of Deakin University and is currently undergoing study for a bachelor of drama where he focuses on dramaturgy, improvisation, adaptation and solo performance. During his time there Ahmed has featured in theatre productions under the direction of Robert Reid such as the exception and the rule (the coolie and the players), Cosi (Doug), Waiting for Godot (Estragon). He has also featured in multiple short films such as Johnny Boy (Johnny) and Obstacle of men (Hassan).
