Notes

LAILA THAKER is a Torres Strait Islander (Meriam/Badulaig) and Indian (Ratlamwali) performer and has been grinding the industry for over 15 years. Since graduating with a BA in Creative Industries/Theatre at JCU (Cairns, 2009) and Film and Television at The Actor’s Workshop (Brisbane, 2013), she has been cast in various roles from Shakespeare to Sarah Kane. Most notably, Five Bedrooms (Paramount), Wentworth (Foxtel), Informer 3838 (Nine Network), My Life Is Murder (Channel Ten), Bad Mothers (Nine Network) and House Husbands (Nine Network). Laila also played main role "Dana" on feature film Christmas Downunder which was released on US TV Channel ION in 2021. Her role in Prayers To Broken Stone (Boutique Theatre) won her Best Emerging Indigenous Artist for the Melbourne Fringe Awards 2017.
